Gaslighting 101: Our Review of Lovecraft Country ep. 2
Wednesday Aug 26, 2020
Wednesday Aug 26, 2020
In this week’s second episode, we do our deep dive into the amazing second episode of HBO's "Lovecraft Country" entitled "Whitey's On the Moon".
Our takes... we can’t pronounce Braithwhite so we've dubbed them the "Racist Targaryens"; "Sons of Adam" are the original Qanon; a "Twilight" vs. "Underworld" discussion devolves into a Jerry Falwell Jr. comparison; Mel and MiMi give personal accounts of their experiences with “The White Gaze” — from fried chicken to the Cupid Shuffle. We also get into how Gil Scott Heron's poem continues to accurately portray our nation.

Lovecraft Country ep. 2: Our "Instatake"
Monday Aug 24, 2020
Monday Aug 24, 2020
Hi guys! This is our first ever "instatake", a quick immediate reaction to last night's episode 2.
(We'll be back later in the week for a full recap.)
WHAT A FRIGGIN' EPISODE!! AMAZING! Paced more like a season finale than a second episode.
Our other takes? Well... That ain’t the anaconda Mel and MiMi want, Leti was rocking her fresh "Amelia Earhart" look, and Mel asks why “Ivanka Trump” in this episode.

Thursday Aug 20, 2020
Thursday Aug 20, 2020
In this week’s episode, we dive into the first episode of HBO's "Lovecraft Country" including the lore and historical context.
Our takes? Well... Kim scarred her 6th-grade class by making them watch "Imitation of Life", Atticus was OJ's inspiration for car chases, Leti "Usain Bolt" Lewis what they call her and Mel needs protection from her chakras.
Also, shout out to Alexander Dumas

Watchmen Finale, The 'WAP' Edition: Our Review of ep.9 Finale
Friday Aug 14, 2020
Friday Aug 14, 2020
In this week’s episode, we wrap up our discussion of HBO's amazing "Watchmen". We also briefly touch on the news of Kamala Harris' historical moment.
Our takes... Ozymandias and Drake are NOT the "same people" despite Marcus' thoughts, the dedication to spell "Daughter" out in bodies (we would’ve just spelled “Sis”), MiMi accurately calls Ozymandias as being an astrological Cancer, and Senator Keene is Tucker Carlson in Thinx period panties.
We also end the episode pondering what we should review next. Give us your thoughts.

Friday Aug 07, 2020
Friday Aug 07, 2020
In this week’s second episode (a twofer), we discuss HBO's "Watchmen" episode 8 — another masterclass in storytelling.
Our takes... Dr. Manhattan can create and destroy worlds but has ZERO game, Mel may be missing out on her "love blessing" by consuming too many murder podcasts and MiMi hates to see Cal leave but loves to see him walk away.

An Almost Religious Awe: Our Review of Watchmen ep. 7
Friday Aug 07, 2020
Friday Aug 07, 2020
In this week’s episode, we discuss HBO's "Watchmen" episode 7.
Our takes... all true villains where white (sorry LisaRaye McCoy), Ozymandias is truly a "special" guy, Lori Blake doesn’t think quick on her feet, and we question if all racists have a "Sunken Place".

‘Watchmen’ Review: The Extraordinariness of 'This Extraordinary Being'
Friday Jul 31, 2020
Friday Jul 31, 2020
In this week’s episode, we discuss HBO's "Watchmen" episode 6 — one of the greatest examples of storytelling in TV history.
Our takes... this episode was rich with layers from callbacks to Superman to the actual whitewashing of real-life Bass Reeves; MiMi recalls her own "Nostalgia pills" moment; Cal reminds us of a bad date; Will, June and Captain Metropolis have their own "entanglement"; and a Jon Snow/ Daenerys Targaryen connection only WE could make to the show.

‘Watchmen’ in the COVID-19 Age: Our Rewatch/Review of ep.4 & 5
Friday Jul 24, 2020
Friday Jul 24, 2020
In this week’s episode, we discuss HBO's "Watchmen" episodes 4 and 5.
Our takes... Ozymandias is in a bad marriage with Mr. Phillips and Ms. Crookshanks; COVID-19 really messed up the game for Jehovah Witnesses; how Mel would label her “threesome” nostalgia pills to not confuse them with worse memories; and how the person with the worst southern accent is always the villain in every show.

‘Watchmen’ in the COVID-19 Age: Our Rewatch/Review of ep. 2 & 3
Friday Jul 17, 2020
Friday Jul 17, 2020
In this week’s episode, we continue our discussion of HBO's "Watchmen". We switch up the format a bit from last week since there's so much to consume with this show.
Our takes... "Blanket Jackson" (Topher Abar) gonna need therapy (and probably us too after we're done with our COVID-19 "entanglement"); Will Reeves may be a Targaryen; Louis Gossett Jr. is a gift; this story is way too close to today’s storylines, and Black women STAY saving everybody.
